Sakura meditation naturally lowers your stress levels by activating the parasympathetic autonomous nervous system. This is a resting state that is deeper than any point of sleep giving your mind and body a much needed chance to realign and repair the systems that are unbalanced in your body.
Our amygdala (the part of the brain that is responsible for the fight/flight response) begins to calm down and along with it we begin to feel more settled and relaxed, not just during the meditation but also throughout the rest of the day.
Levels of cortisol are reduced by up to a third, at the same time our brain is flooded with ‘happy hormones’ making us more resilient to future unnecessary stress.
At the same time our nervous system starts to eliminate all the toxic emotions from the past experiences that we have been carrying around in our bodies. This will make room to naturally form new behaviors and habits without the impact of the old regressive patterns.

This was one of the benefits I noticed first with this meditation. Within days of me meditating there was a visible reduction of my anxious thoughts and concerns. The quality of my thoughts shifted from worrying and negative scenarios to every situation to a deep sense of calm and clarity.
Sakura meditation uses the power of sound, these gentle vibrations or mantras are chosen to match each individual’s nervous system. This soft repetition of the sound within the mind will create a soothing effect. It’s easy to do, there’s no need to concentrate or focus.
When we begin to effortlessly repeat the mantra in our mind, the brain enters in the alpha-1 state, which is characterised by high coherence in the prefrontal cortex, our brain’s CEO.
This high-level brain patterning correlates strongly with a very significant reduction in anxious thoughts and sensations.
It helps us to remain calm and rational under pressure, seeing the big picture and pausing to reflect, instead of reacting.
Sakura meditation enhances our alertness, significantly boosting our capacity to identify real threats and respond appropriately. This allows us to relax whenever we are not faced with true danger. A great sense of general safety and being protected is one of the effects of this technique. -
Sakura meditation can help improve our sleep pattern and the quality of sleep. By working deep at the level of the nervous system, it clears out the stimulation and daily stresses. It naturally lowers our levels of cortisol and adrenaline so we can peacefully drift off to sleep in the evening.
This meditation technique will lengthen our deep sleep cycles, increase our total sleep time and our sleep efficiency.
Our nervous system gets the needed rest during the two meditation sessions during the day allowing a real time and effortless processing of the daily stresses. So that at night when we hit the pillow, the nervous system is already relaxed and will reach the deep sleep state within minutes allowing you to reboot and recharge in a very short amount of time.

All painful memories and unprocessed life experiences remain in our nervous system, especially in that part of it that deals with the ‘fight or flight’ response. So it’s no wonder that when this gets triggered, one of the side effects is that we become emotional and irrational.
Due to the fast paced rhythm and challenges of our modern life, our nervous system does not have the bandwidth to process and heal those situations in real time. Which is not beneficial to harmonious relations.
Sakura meditation can help us develop our nervous system. By meditating with a personalised mantra that soothes the mind and nervous system, we enter a state of deep relaxation where we begin, spontaneously, to heal past hurts.
The body’s natural creative intelligence responds to the mantra by quietly getting rid of our old wounds and un-processed life experiences so that they will no longer impact us in unwanted ways.
We become more pleasant to be around, more engaged and more loving towards the people we love. And because our nervous system is much calmer, we take things far less personally and are more perceptive, attentive listeners.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is a challenging form of seasonal depression that individuals often feel as summer ends and evenings grow longer.
The term 'affective' relates to our emotional responses, which are disrupted during the winter months due to reduced light reaching our eyes. This lack of light hinders the release of neurotransmitters that typically help maintain a balanced and engaged mood. The result is depression, a biological condition that can feel as intense as a significant injury or illness.
Sakura meditation counteracts the harmful effects of stress by soothing the amygdala, which triggers our stress response, while also restoring balance to the nervous system and stimulating the vagus nerve.
As a result, we achieve a more natural level of parasympathetic tone in our central nervous system, helping to prevent our thoughts from becoming irrationally negative.
This practice also boosts melatonin levels, which can decrease during SAD, leading to feelings of fatigue.
Additionally, through meditation, our optic nerve strengthens, and our retinal cells become more sensitive, allowing us to extract more neurochemical benefits from the light signals we receive.
